Habitat for Humanity --
AMSA will be helping out one day with the
Habitat for Humanity house that GCCC is helping to build.
Our previously decided date, Oct. 7, was full, so we regrouped at our last
meeting and chose a new date for participation. The members chose
November 4th as the new date to participate at
the building of the GCCC Habitat House that Education Built.
The start time for working is 7am (or whenever you can get there as soon
after that) and work until you tucker out. ..preferably at least until
lunch. Snacks and drinks will be served to workers. ..but if you have
special dietary concerns, bring your own snacks and drinks. The house
address is 2101 E. 8th Court (off Sherman
Avenue). There is a map on the Habitat web site (www.gulfcoast.edu/habitat).
Covenant Hospice Volunteer
Program--
We will we having a training session on Saturday, November
18th with Covenant Hospice and our AMSA group to train
our members to be full covenant hospice volunteers.
Practice MCAT Website--
AMSA has had scheduled a practice MCAT date for Saturday, November
4th. Due to scheduling difficulties with the Habitat work day.
After talking with Princeton Review, they made us aware that MCAT
paper versions are a thing of the past, and suggested that students practice
the MCAT on a computer version. They passed along a website that has
practice MCATs students can go through on their own (or we can schedule a
group one later on). This is not a Princeton Review website.
They will have their computer practice MCAT version up an running in
January. The website is e-mcat.com
which is an AAMC website.
