Habitat for Humanity
AMSA will be helping out one Saturday with the Habitat for Humanity house that  GCCC is helping to build.
Our previously decided date, Oct. 7, was full, so we regrouped at our last meeting and chose a new date for participation.

The members chose November 4th as the new date to participate at the building of the GCCC Habitat House that Education Built.

The start time for working is 7am (or whenever you can get there as soon after that) and work until you tucker out. ..preferably at least until lunch.  Snacks and drinks will be served to workers. ..but if you have special dietary concerns, bring your own snacks and drinks.  The house address is 2101 E. 8th Court (off Sherman Avenue).  There is a map on the Habitat web site (www.gulfcoast.edu/habitat).

NOTE
:  You are also more than welcome to sign up individually for any Saturday to work.  To do this, go to the GCCC website and press on the Habitat for Humanity web button link on the left hand side.  This will take you to the GCCC Habitat House Webpage.  Here you will find the link to the schedule of work and the on-line sign up form.

AMSA and Red Cross sponsored Blood Drive

Note:  Covenant Hospice is having a volunteer training that AMSA students can join in on Nov. 4 from 9-3 OR on Friday, Nov 3 from 8-3 for students that do not want to participate in the Habitat Build day with AMSA.

Information about the Covenant Hospice can be found at

Practice MCAT
AMSA has had scheduled a practice MCAT date for Saturday, November 4th.  Due to scheduling difficulties with the Habitat work day.
After talking with Princeton Review,  they made us aware that MCAT paper versions are a thing of the past, and suggested that students practice the MCAT on a computer version.  They passed along a website that has practice MCATs students can go through on their own (or we can schedule a group one later on).  This is not a Princeton Review website.  They will have their computer practice MCAT version up an running in January.
The website is e-mcat.com which is an AAMC website
.

Speakers for our meetings
FSU Medical school advisor speaker - Rob Borger- November  13th

Idea for a speaker?  Speak up!!!
Please bring any suggestions for speakers to the advisor or the AMSA officers.
Also, feel free to "sponsor a speaker" by talking to an individual of interest to our group to see if they would like to speak to AMSA.  We can then make arrangements with the person and the AMSA advisor and/or officers for the speaker to come and talk.
